The Black Ant, Lasius Niger, and the Red Ant, Myrmica Rubra, are the most common ants found in the UK, both being nuisance pests.

They produce the familiar flying ants when emerging from their nests. These flying ants can cover windows, doors , patios and infest your building. They need to be controlled before they start to swarm to set up new colonies. The red ant is able to squirt instead of inject the irritant formic acid. Although they do little damage in and around your home the nuisance factor is high.
